Facebook Social Ads - The Demographic Pay Per Click

In the world of online marketing, one impressive dynamic most people believe Google has cornered is the Pay Per Click advertising. Although Google Adsense and Adwords are incredible and impressive methods of generating traffic and income, Google now has competition. Facebook is running a newly released Pay Per Click Program that can be specified down to the target demographic, something more specified than available through Google. The obvious intention of the Facebook Social Ads program is to rival the Google PPC program, and the design of the program is poised to do just that.

Many online businesses seek a quick return for their advertising dollar, and pay per click programs is ideal for this. The Facebook Social Networking group identified this, and has chosen to create an impressive pay per click program, that will maximize the advertising dollars by combining click quantity with click quality. The combination promises to be explosive for the online marketers and those maximizing on the Facebook Flyer revenue. As many companies will flock to the demographic designed flyer program, an equal number of people willing to share the advertising space will grow by leaps and bounds, as occurred shortly after Google introduced the pay per click option in volume.

The world-renowned social network has newly released its pay-per-click program with cost-per-click as well as cost-per-impression fee structures. The attractiveness of advertising through a social network is the ability to choose particular target demographics. Should you not know who your intended demographics are, you are able to utilize Facebook to identify an audience acutely likely to take advantage of your ads. Before a marketer even lists their ads with Facebook Social Ads, the advertiser can use their demographic identifying search and Facebook Polls and see how the pay per click campaign can expand and demographically target the total possible audience available to market to.

Facebook has created an easy, customer friendly interface, which is incredibly simple to comprehend. The reporting given to the marketing client includes the complete demographic data, ad performance, trends related to the ad, and how many clicks generated. Facebook Flyers Pro is designed to be the most complete user friendly, marketer friendly program currently available, although the program is still new to the marketplace it is poised to be a true Google competitor. It is set to create a broad foundation for marketing opportunities, with a target for the home-based businesses.

The volume potential for the Facebook PPC vs. Google is huge, primarily because the Google PPC program is designed to reach an incredibly broad audience, with little discrimination as the ads appear above the standard search results. In theory this would be a prudent application, however if the demographic can be further narrowed, as is possible with the Facebook Pay Per Click, the quality of the click will expand the participating businesses significantly as those clicking will be specific to where they would like to see business generated. And those who fit into the specified demographic may be more interested in purchasing services and products from the companies involved.

Facebook Has Surpassed MySpace Thanks to the Smart Kids

MySpace leads Facebook in revenue earned form advertisements. But recently, Facebook has surpassed MySpace in unique visitors. This is an astounding accomplishment being that MySpace had a three year lead and enjoys immense popularity. Users are leaving MySpace for Facebook in droves and it is speculated that this transition may be a result of class rather than trend.

Following the creation of Friendstar, a number of eUniverse employees saw its potential and used its more popular features to create a social networking website with a wider base. MySpace was launched in August 2003 and with resources including technicians, bandwidth and server capacity already in place users increased at an astounding rate.

MySpace operates from advertising revenue alone. There is absolutely no cost to the end user. MySpace is capable of using behavioral targeting to customize the ads that each user sees. Only Yahoo! has been able to collect more data about it's users in order to customize advertising. The success of MySpace has trickled down to many young entrepreneurs who provide widgets or accessories that add to the functionality of the networking powerhouse.

MySpace encourages users to customize their profile pages by entering HTML. In addition musicians are allowed to upload and share up to 6 MP3 songs provided it is their own work or they have permission to use the songs. Over eight million artists owe their discovery to MySpace so far! Political organizations and politicians themselves have created MySpace pages to expand their membership and to get more young viewers involved in campaigning. MySpace offers many engaging features including Bulletins, Groups, MySpace IM, MySpace TV, Applications, MySpace Mobile, MySpace News, MySpace Classifieds, MySpace Karaoke and MySpace polls.

MySpace networking has many positive aspects, unfortunately, they are matched in number by negative aspects. MySpace does not have a customer service number readily available. Most problems are solved via networking with other MySpace users. HTML code is rarely met because those using the code are not experienced. This can lead to accessibility problems and freeze up web browsers.

Security is another major problem. Advertisements are abundant and some provide links to fake login screens that trick a user into entering their MySpace user name and password. Spam bulletins and infections are prime examples of security breaches. Social issues arise such as teens inadvertently inviting a large number of people to parties. People are also more likely to present themselves in ways that they would not in person which undercuts the purposeful design of MySpace which is to bring people together. Stalkers also are able to gather a large amount of information about an individual via MySpace.

Facebook is also a social networking website. Unlike MySpace its origin is not corporate but academic! Membership was initially offered to only Harvard College students. Shortly after in March of 2004 membership was expanded to include Stanford, Columbia and Yale. In September of 2005 Facebook welcomed high school students by invitation only then employees of Apple Inc. and Microsoft. Finally, Facebook expanded its membership to include everyone over the age of 13 with a valid email address in September 2006. Facebook members join networks which are organized by city, school, workplace and region.

Facebook remains privately owned by Facebook Inc. but has investors who are major players including PayPal co-founder Peter Theil, Accel Partners, Greylock Partners and Microsoft.

Facebook offers many of the same features as MySpace like banner ads, creating customized profiles, and the viewing of the profile data being restricted to users from the network or confirmed friends. Facebook's features include the Wall, Pokes, Photos, News Feed, Facebook Notes, Chat and Gifts.

The most significant difference between the two websites is the level of customization. Facebook only allows plain text as opposed to HTML and Cascading Style Sheets. But despite its 3 year head start in the general public, MySpace fell behind Facebook in May of 2008 with a total of 123.9 million unique Facebook visitors. According to Alexa, Facebook's ranking among all websites went from 60th to 7th from September 2006 to September 2007. It is currently 5th.

Currently young people are leaving MySpace in droves for Facebook. Some speculate that it is typical teens moving on from one trend to the next. Others speculate that Facebook attracts more affluent users. Facebook originated with Ivy League students who then attracted high school kids who were eager to become part of the culture in their upcoming college experience. Danah Boyd, a researcher for the University of California, Berkley, claims that the "goody-two-shoes, jocks, athletes, and other 'good' kids" are going to Facebook. These 'good' kids are attracted first to the Facebook's origin and they are also eager to stay away from the controversy that surrounds MySpace. Therefore there is evidence of a class divide rather than a change in trend for all young users. It will be interesting to see if Facebook becomes similarly polluted.

Facebook Marketing Success - Monetize Your Social Networking

Virtually all of the big-time Internet marketers have a Facebook presence. Some have tons and tons of dedicated followers who take their words as gospel. And Facebook can be a powerful marketing tool if used correctly. Unfortunately there are those who abuse their presence there and actually do a lot to hurt their image in terms of marketing their services or products.

One of the keys to success is to develop a rather largish following. Facebook helps you by suggesting friends who are already friends with your friends. Make sure that your list subscribers are well aware of your Facebook presence. Put a link to your Facebook profile on your sites and blogs. You really need to promote your Facebook presence everywhere.

Now, there are affiliate marketers I run across all them time who post affiliate links all over the place and beg me to check out this product or that many times a day. I usually un-friend them because they can plug up the works with useless dribble.

The very best Facebook marketers employ a more subtle approach. My main tactic is to make posts that offer something free and useful at one of my blogs. If people click on the link, I don't hit them with a squeeze page first, I take them directly to the blog. I put a sticky post at the top of the blog in which I offer another free bonus in exchange for opting in to my list. So they get what I promised them on my Facebook post plus even more.

People will consider you an obnoxious dweeb if you do too much marketing on Facebook itself. But if you can drive followers to your blog and there opt them in to your list - then you can market to them to your heart's content over and over again.

An alternative technique which can work wickedly well is to offer a free video in a Facebook posting. It's got to be a killer video that helps viewers solve a common problem. The idea is to provide a great video, with great value for free, but to then offer a series of follow up videos in exchange for opting in to your list.

If you get a quality video up that hits a hot button with your followers, and if you can give them enough information to be of help to them without giving them too much info, you can expect large number of viewers of your first video to subscribe to your list in order to get the other related vids.

One caution I would make is to not go down the following road. Many Facebook users will post saying that they have a free video you will find useful. But when you click on the link you are taken to nothing more than a sales video for an affiliate product. This not-to-subtle approach to monetizing your Facebook presence can wear thin on your followers. If you offer them a video make sure it's informative and not just an affiliate sales tool. Don't begin marketing to them until you get them on your list!

Facebook Advertising - Top Tips For the Online Marketing Professional

The term Social Network applies to a number of different online platforms including the familiar Facebook and My Space web sites as well as social bookmarking services like Digg and StumbleUpon. Also Services like Twitter and Squidoo fall into the social Networking category. But its worth taking a look at how the more familiar services can help the entrepreneur and online marketer.

The social nature of Facebook means that the home worker can grow a friends list very quickly. Add a friend wait for them to confirm and then explore their friends for people you know.

Before long they'll have a network of people with which to exchange contact numbers, ideas and events. But where it gets interesting is when they organize their contacts into 'Groups'. This allows people with an interest in what your group is about to join.

Suddenly the home based entrepreneur has a captive audience of like minded people to market to. I regularly get invitations to plays that my friends are performing in, as well as parties that friends-of-friends have organized.

To add to this natural way of creating a captive audience on Facebook, the opportunity to place adverts on the site has been introduced.

Much like Google, with Facebook advertising you would set your advert up to appear for search terms and you can specify the target audience i.e. 18-20 year old, University Graduates, over 50s and so on.

When trying this a year ago I was stunned by the response I had from my 3 by 1 inch advert. But the main draw for using Facebook advertising is that, as of this writing, the cost per click averages about 33% of what you would pay Google or Yahoo. So your investment is very low compared to the main players in this space.

Like any online service there are rules for the submission of adverts. All adverts must be circumspect, with tidy graphics and grammatically correct copy. Once submitted, the ad is perused by a human being who makes sure that the advert doesn't conflict with the smooth lines of their Graphical User Interface. And once they're happy, your advert goes live.

As with other cost-per-click services, Facebook also provides analytics so that you can measure your adverts performance and make changes if necessary.

So why not consider the alternative advertising platform of other social networking sites including Facebook and push your Home Based Business to the next level.

Bruckheimer on Facebook For a Day

My husband yelled from his office, "Are you in Facebook as Judy Bruckheimer Lewin?" Yes, I confessed -sure to get censored by the Facebook police. I felt special joining a social network, adding my mother-in-law's maiden name Bruckheimer to my name. And that's not all. Our distant cousin Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of CSI and Cold Case, would have lots of TV Series material in a true without a trace case already in his family.

I wanted to scream from the St Louis Arch of how I solved my husband's 50 year search to find his missing mother in 7 steps, when all he knew was Mom. My husband was concealed, his last name changed and his biological father refused to tell us about Steve's mother. I joined Facebook to tell my friends and family my discovery; and possible reasons for the coverup. A search on Facebook displayed dozens of names from my alma mater Washington University, St Louis, MO.

In 2004 I found my husband's mother, Mary Bruckheimer, using forensic genealogy research. Hours of tedious research in libraries, cemetery visits, and on-line archive searches resulted in finding new relatives, and birth dates and places all over the world. Next, I prayed to God the relative we just found was ready, willing and able to interview. In the end, the relatives with nothing to hide and over 80 years old, helped me solve this 50 year old mystery. While genealogists are eager to compare notes and network, I want to grab the public's attention with the BRUCKHEIMER STORY, for those not familiar with family history.

This true story is about how Steve was taken from her in 1952, in Long Beach, California without a trace. The mystery is because my husband, Steve Lewin was looking for his mother, while Mary and later, her family were looking for us from 1953 until 2004. We found Mary's grave and another surprise, John Nathan, - a younger half-brother we never knew existed.

Are we related to Jerry Bruckheimer? A Bruckheimer relative confirmed our grandfather is a brother to Jerry's grandfather. I can't wait to speak with Jerry's wife, Linda Bruckheimer, author and editor. Her novels are based on her life growing up in Kentucky, moving to California only to return and write about her roots. Maybe Linda will make a connection with me someday.

My husband was startled when he saw Judy Bruckheimer in his email inbox. When I answered, "Oh honey, how did you know about my new name on Facebook?" He said, "I thought it was an email from Linda Bruckheimer. Just what we are hoping to hear! "

This morning I changed my name back on Facebook - so I was Judy Bruckheimer Lewin for a day. Today is Easter Sunday, 2008, and we will visit our brother, John Nathan, his family and my mother-in-law's grave in Gillespie/Benld, Illinois near Staunton, Illinois.

For anyone searching for their missing relatives, please keep looking and never, ever, ever give up hope. Someday, you never know how someone will come along and offer the missing link to help solve the puzzle in your life, just as we found help from others.

Genealogy Sleuth - Visit http://www.JudyLewin.com OR http://www.Lunna.org for more details of how I found my husband's mother after 50 years, when he was taken from her in 1952. This mystery explains what happened to his mother, Mary Bruckheimer, and why no one told him her name or about her family. Without any clues, I used forensic genealogy to solve the mystery. My article "How I found MOM after 50 years in 7 steps" is published in MoSGA, XXXIV, Sept 2008. My book, Thank you, Judy, For Finding my Mother, will be published in 2010.

Find the groups in your specific business niche and join them. You will get a chance to meet and interact with people who can be your potential customers. Facebook also offers the facility of creating your own groups. Then why keep joining other groups only, why not create own group and invite people to join those groups. You can also create Fan pages for your business. It's a great way to associate people with your business.

Keep People Engaged and Updated With Latest Information

Your work is not over just by adding friends with your profile. You need to keep them engaged and updated with fresh piece of information related to you and your business. How to Engage Your Facebook Fans

The continuous growth of Facebook makes its use a must for all marketers, professionals and companies. Recently more and more businesses have understood the need to create an online presence on relevant social networks and have begun including Facebook Fan Pages in their social media strategy. According to statistics released by Facebook, 10 million people become fans of a page every day. The relevance of a Facebook Fan Page is recognised by Google also. Typing 'Facebook for Business' in Google brings 600 million results. Facebook provides an exceptional opportunity for visibility, Google indexing, live search ability, and fan engagement.

However, creating a Fan Page and having hundreds of fans should not be the ultimate goal of a business, but merely the beginning. Once you add fans, you need to design a social media strategy to keep people engaged to your Fan Page. Most businesses find it very challenging to do so at the moment.

We have compiled a list of solutions to keep your Facebook fans engaged:

1. Brand new! (Use announcements of new product releases, important upgrades as to increase conversation with your Facebook Fans.)

2. Promo! (We all love discounts, special offers and freebies. There is nothing that gets us more.)

3. Show that you care! (Get your business involved in charity work, supporting causes that make the world a better place, eco-friendly projects.)

4. Network with other platforms! (Create a network of other platforms, working in conjunction to drive visitors to your Facebook fan page. Include your Twitter followers and activity into your Fan page engagement.)

5. Create a resource! (Use to offer information pertinent to your audience. Use information as added value to have consumers create a connection with the brand.)

6. Include relevant content! (Use auto posting features to insert your blog in your Fan Page. E.g. Posterous.)

7. Share quality and relevant content, on a daily basis!

8. Mix up the type of posts! (links, text, photos, video, events)

9. Incite comments using the Discussions tab!

10. Respond to all your fans!

We hope you will find these useful in improving your company's engagement on Facebook! Please share with us your experience and opinion on how to engage Facebook Fans!
