Facebook Games - Treasure Isle

Treasure Isle, a game of hunting treasure made by the same developers who brought you FarmVille, Zynga. This is one game that you will find it rather odd or loving it. Whatever your personal taste is, we from Mabel Games will be bringing you the inside on this game in this review.

Game play

Treasure Isle is all about... well, digging. Personally I find this game a bit odd at first as the only thing you do is dig, dig and well... more digging.

The game starts you off with the character creation screen and from there you can choose either to be a boy or a girl treasure hunter. Later on if you decide that you like to choose a different gender, then game seems to allow you to do that. A bit different from the other games I played as usually once you choose the gender of your character; you are stuck with it unless you create a whole new account for it. Nevertheless, this is how the developers in Zynga want the game to work. To provide players with a bit of freedom in what they want to do.

After you finish deciding on your gender the game tutorial will begin, instructing you on how the game mechanic works. You start off on a small and I do mean small, small island as you start... well... DIGGING!

Your goal in the game is to dig around the island and find buried treasure of various sort. Pirate treasure, ancient lost civilization or just plain old junks. At anytime on the game you can click on the map to show your current location, like which island you are currently on and the island surrounding it. As you finished digging up the whole island and this seems to be a must in the game in order to advance to the next area. You will then be notified by the game of your completion and the map will open up the next island for you.

Treasure that you find will comes in a set, collect all the treasure and you get to trade in for a prize, depending on the treasure that you find. While some treasure is like great finding of the centuries, others are a bit disappointing. Imagine digging up a broken barrel and the game considers it a treasure.

Once in a while you, after you are bored with digging up treasures, you can just take your tiny boat to your home island. This is where the second part of the game comes in. Here you will be able to customize your characters look, their gender and the outfit they wear.

Other activities include planting of fruits which can be later harvest to be consumed as energy refills. Buy furniture to decorate your island into a Tiki heaven or just lay back and chill. Whatever your choice is you would not really find much to do on this part of the area really.

Now after all that, we will now look at how the game works a bit. First thing is that you character will have a stamina bar on top of the screen. This is to show you what the current stamina is and how much you can do before you need to take a break from your treasure hunting. Like most of the Facebook game out there is a small counter that will provide you information on how long before your stamina replenish. Best part of the game here is, you do not always have to wait for the stamina bar to fill up. If have planted fruits, this can be use to replenish lost stamina. If you run out of fruits, a call out for help from your friends at times makes a lot of difference as they can send you free food or energy replenish bar to allow you to continue your treasure hunting.

While during your treasure hunting trip, you will encounter at times Giant TIKI statue that will block your path to certain part of the island. Jewels found on trees will allow you to pass the Giant TIKI, however in order to get the correct jewel combination, one must have a few friends which can share with you the color jewel which will unlock the path you need to go to. Else you might just get stuck on that particular stage until you get the correct jewel.

Graphic

Treasure Isle is really a pretty game to look at really. Its colorful environments and cartoon like character has an interesting kind of twist in it. Your character will move rather fluently and the animation of digging and chopping down vines and trees is nicely done. However, graphic alone would not make a it a good game, but it is still a nice eye candy nevertheless.

Sound

Treasure Isle does have a nice Caribbean music that plays during your treasure hunting trip which may remind you of the time on the nice sandy beach away from civilization (Ironically your character is away from civilization). The background Sound FX also adds very well as you can hear seagulls and the ocean noise which can be rather nice and peaceful to hear, unlike some sound which can be rather bothersome at times. Personally I do like how Zynga does with the sound in this game.

Conclusion

Treasure Isle is not really meant for everyone. I personally find it a bit dull compared to other games in Facebook. However if finding lost treasure is your thing, then you might find this game more appealing than I do.

The Hidden Dangers of Facebook and MySpace

The rise in popularity of social networking websites such as MySpace and Facebook has been impressive. Even though originally popular with mostly adolescents, sites such as Facebook have enjoyed increasing popularity with adults as well. Although there are a number of benefits to such sites, there are some un-discussed psychological impacts that people should be aware of.

First, a quick review of why Facebook and MySpace are beneficial. Humans are social creatures, and the need to connect with others is of utmost importance. Thanks to technology, we enjoy the ease of communication through cell phones, text messages, and the internet. So being able to connect with others, especially being able to find people with whom we might have lost touch, is very appealing. These sites allow us to share various aspects of our lives with others. This can include pictures, our favorite music, or anything else that allows us to express who we are and what make us happy. It is a great way to express ourselves and our identity. We can also learn a lot from others and what they have on their sites.

However, based on my experience in with clients, I believe there are some negative psychological effects of such sites. This is because the very aspects that makes them appealing, i.e. the ease with which we can access and contact others, can also set the stage for us to engage in unhealthy behavior such as obsessively checking up on others. It is easy to get caught up in monitoring others, and we often get more information than we bargained for- information that we would not have otherwise known if not for such easy access.

This problem partially arises out of the fact our psychological coping skills are based on the "old" way of doing things- using the telephone. In the past, if we broke off a relationship, we just did not speak to the person because we cut off telephone communication, and unless we heard news about them "through the grapevine" we were not constantly exposed to their lives.

With the evolution of Facebook (or MySpace), we can still have access to that person's life. Even if they make their profile "private", we can keep track of them by looking at the profiles of common friends. In other words, we have never before had to deal with the continual access to someone that has caused us some version of emotional pain (no matter if it is due to a break up or a hurtful action). In fact, we can watch their lives without them knowing it!

What does this mean? It means that we need to be better monitors of our own behaviors. Just because we can get information about someone who hurt us or someone who we want to be close with but who does not reciprocate, it does not mean that we should. Through these sites, we are able to engage in behavior that is not natural to human relationships- continuing contact in situations where it should be allowed to naturally end. So I encourage all users of such sites to keep in mind that some self-discipline is required at times!

Use A Good Facebook Layout To Spruce Your Profile

Formerly, facebook was completely restricted as an internal site for the students of Harvard College. Later it was diverged to many colleges and schools. Authorities with a university email address were allowed to join. Though face book has the second place when compared to Myspace, studies have proved Facebook much more appealing for the long term.

Facebook applies the idea of six degrees of separate connections. Thus, it becomes more famous and useful in cases where they need help from contact networks. They act as a guide in various situations. However, studying the norms of social networking websites before entering is always advisable.

Customization of facebook layouts is a very easy procedure. However, such a personalization is not possible at the first look. A person can search for various kinds of add-ons in the form of interesting expressions. These facebook expressions are the ones that help in the addition of graphic images.

You have to be careful, though, as there is a chance of identity theft if the security settings are inadequately set up. Creation of such fake ids would cause much harm as the whole hard work and effort you have put into a business or any product launching would be an utter waste. Therefore, it is very important to secure your profile access only to your friends.

Productivity and company morale can be boosted up in facebook in a variety of ways. Companies can join with their groups of employees to build up a good team. Even recruitment and search for the right candidates can be done through it. While interacting can be done effortlessly, one can easily get into contact with business associates, customers and prospects, and new leads can be generated quickly. Adding your business associates' email information to your friends list will help much. Business can also be immensely exposed by including famous people.

It is essential to build a long-term relationship with all the associates and partners in the facebook. By adding comments from time to time, good friendships are possible. Posting of useful snippets or latest news will be giving you more demand. Always impress your facebook members by appearing up-to-date in your contents. This will also be helpful for your recognition in your niche.

By creating facebook applications, it is easy to even make money online. Facebook applications are software programs designed for a facebook profile. Due to its uniqueness and easy creation, applications for facebook have gained immense popularity. These software are fairly simple to create snips of computer code, and many have earned thousands of dollars by creating such viral applications.

Simply signing in facebook would not make a person rich. But using the facebook layout properly with the best profile features and applications will surely promote your business. Facebook if used in the proper way will add to numerable results, even as a beginner to a business.

Making money online is not as hard as you might think... in fact everybody who is willing to apply proven to work strategies will succeed. Want to know more? Check out the free Internet Marketing Resources

Facebook Applications - 3 Revenue Models Proven to Work

Facebook applications (a.k.a. Facebook apps) are one of the successful ingredients to the one of the most popular social network. In fact, with the increasing number of social groups and active users, these apps can spread virally across friends with the invitation nature. There are 3 major types of underlying revenue models. After reading this article, you'll discover how you can profit from Facebook apps.

Ad placements are the most direct method to monetize these applications. And as the name suggests, the method involves direct placement of advertising modules within the program interface. These can include Google AdSense, amazon associate program or eBay affiliate etc. You can also place affiliate links from popular networks such as ClickBank or commission junction. You can make money with each click on these ads by your users, or percentage of sales if you get a sale from such affiliation.

Sponsorship is another type of mole where you are partnered with a company to brand the facebook application. This program will be used exclusively to promote another business. The business concerned can be yours or belong to third party. Unlike pay per click, the company will pay you on a contractual basis. While this model may not be seen very often because the application has to be very popular, such cooperative business is still workable.

Virtual currency is another revenue model usually adopted by games related Facebook program. Some examples include Texas Holdem, where you are playing against other opponents using virtual chips. While the chips are available for free when you register initially, these chips are actively traded in marketplace outside the social site. You can see virtual chips for sale in eBay, for example. This model can also be used in conjunction with other monetization strategy such as ad placements.

How you can make money with Facebook apps, too

Are you eager to jump in the wagon and claim your profit share in Facebook applications? You will need some Facebook apps to get you started. I'll recommend this Facebook applications collection.

Follow this: Facebook apps

With over 30 applications at low price, you're paying a few bucks per app. Seriously, some programmers can charge you $100 for only 1 program. Don't miss the opportunity to realize your dream. Act now while the offer lasts.

How To Find A Proxy For Facebook

Proxies allow you to surf the internet with a high level of privacy, security and anonymity. When you access a website from the proxy server site, information like your browser type, location, operating system and IP address is eliminated and the proxy server website is recorded as the accessing computer instead of your computer. This helps you maintain the privacy, security and anonymity you desire, as it facilitates web browsing without your information being identified and bypasses the network filters and firewalls.

The process is very simple and convenient. You are not required to install or download any software to browse the blocked sites. All you have to do is type the desired URL (for example: http://www.facebook.com) on the main page and all connections and traffic to and from the destination URL is redirected via the proxy, making it look as if the traffic is evolving from the main proxy, thus bypassing the domain based URL filtering blocking system.
These proxies allow you to access any website without revealing your personal information, surf, download games and news, access online social networking websites and shopping sites, share videos, music, chat and a lot more.

When you use a proxy server, your computer establishes connection with the proxy instead of the destination website, and thus the blocking or filtering firewall will be able to trace this connection only. Further this proxy server, which may be transparent or anonymous, will create a connection to the desired URL which you want to access such as Facebook.com, and retrieve that website, eliminating any trace of your computer.

The proxies allow users to browse through the Facebook website, profiles, post comments, blogs and surf the site for music. Sometimes, you may be required to use the IP address of the proxy (i.e. [http://200.10.10.12]), instead of the domain name, which can be retrieved by pinging the URL from command prompt.

The number of web proxies is everyday increasing and more and more are being setup to earn revenues through advertisements. To search for proxies for websites like Facebook, you can use the search engines like Yahoo or Google. There are a number of websites offering these services and you can choose any of them as per your requirement. These proxies are Youtube and Facebook compatible and you can access any blocked site which is blocked by your school, university or company.

Facebook Ushers Online Affairs Among Users

Endless wall to wall conversations, chatting, poking, pinching, tickling, rating and commenting on alluring photographs. That's how users typically spend time on Facebook. What began as a convenient medium to connect to old friends and business networks has opened up a world of opportunities for those who enjoy some flirting or take it to the next level and find a partner to start an affair. And the best part, you seldom get away doing that on Facebook.

If you are logged into Facebook for about an hour, you are most likely to be caught by the alluring spell of Facebook that encourages friendship even among strangers. Eventually, users indulge in some virtual actions by using some of the thousands of allocations available on Facebook. Logging in and just a few innocent clicks is enough to get you going and eventually hooking on to the habit of connecting to people regularly online and doing things that others typically do.

"It seemed like I was casually exploring the various options on Facebook as I was looking for some old friends on Facebook, and before I knew I had spent over an hour just streaming through some interesting photographs that made me connect to them. Soon I was chatting, sending virtual hugs and exchanging private messages with few interesting people on Facebook. Though I was a married man, having no intention of flirting, I sort of did it even without realizing. It felt like a normal behavior all along, until my wife discovered what was happening and began ranting about it. That was when I realized the seriousness of the issue", shares an ex-avid Facebook user.

Facebook is designed to do this to people. And right now as you are reading, you may be retrospecting about your activities on Facebook. If this were to happen in real world, it would amount to an affair. But when it happens virtually, it is seldom overlooked as a casual practice. But there can be a time when the virtual can silently slide into the real world and take toll of the real relationships in the real world that we all live in.

However, whether one would brand such online connections as affairs or not is subjective. But given that there is a potential danger to real life relationships with such connections, users should be self aware about the consequences of their actions on social media websites.

Tips to Be Powerful in Facebook Mafia Wars

Do you always find yourself constantly losing every fight? Have you ever wonder why other players manage to recruit so many mafias? How did they get the special loots? Find your answers all over here.

1. Recruit massive players instantly by joining mafia wars group in Facebook. To find these groups, type "mafia wars" in the Facebook search on the right hand corner.

2. Buy properties in bulk. If you buy one at a time, you end up paying more. Don't believe? Try it and do some calculations.

3. Buy weapons from limited edition loots. It's often cheap and good! Buy weapons which require no upkeep to keep your expenses low. E.g. Bullet Proof Vest instead of Body Armor which requires an upkeep of $400.

4. Max all the job tiers to unlock the bonus items.

5. Deposit your money after you earn money so that your money won't get stolen.

6. If your friend (Friends you just added from the big mafia group) you add doesn't have the invite status message. Try replacing the zero with their id from this "http://apps.Facebook.com/inthemafia/status_invite.php?from=00000000"

Get your friend id by visiting their profile, copy the digits after the id= E.g. http://www.Facebook.com/profile.php?id=1497529999 copy 1497599999 and paste to this [http://apps.Facebook.com/inthemafia/status_invite.php?from=1497599999] in your browser and enter! There you go, you have added your friend in mafia wars.

7. Too many mafia friends in your friend list? Create a friend list and collate all the mafia friends into that list. It would be neater that way and you can't help your mafia friends when they request for help out in game, unless they're in your friend list.

8. Join the mafia mailing list to receive limited time items, rewards, updates, offers!

9. Collect all the collectible so that you can unlock hidden stats point from the Collection & Vaults section.

10. Have fun and enjoy the game.

Using Facebook to Find a Job

Facebook is HUGE! Prepare yourself for some statistics so you can see just how huge: Facebook has more than 400 million active users, 50% of active users log on to Facebook in any given day and more than 100 million active users currently accessing Facebook through their mobile devices. In Europe we are not such a fan as in the US but even so there are 18,701,820 members registered in France, compared to 25,110,180 in UK.

These statistics come from the Facebook press room and I have no reason to believe that they are exaggerated!

The logical conclusion to draw is that if you don't know Facebook yet and you are looking for a job then you need to look into it!

How can you use Facebook to find a job?

It is like the other social networking sites; the purpose is to make connections (in this case 'Friends'). It has been the place where people share more of their 'social side' but it is being increasingly used to exchange information about business and corporate life but from a personal standpoint. So it's a good networking site. Most big companies have their own 'pages' where they are hoping consumers will post positive comments about their products and so on, so if you know of companies you want to work for you could have a look and see what people are saying about them.

You can also look up Jobs in the search bar and this will show up useful pages and website addresses.

There are now applications available to companies which allow them to post up-to-date vacancies and give you the chance to even apply for a job from your Facebook space but it is yet to be fully exploited so keep watching! It is bound to come.

Some people say that you can't mix business and social networking on Facebook so there is no point trying, and you do have to be very careful with this site more than the others we have looked at. There are a rangeof privacy settings but if you are connected to your friends on Facebook (as most people are) then you will only have limited control over what is posted by them and this is what gets you into trouble with prospective employers!

Here are some tips if you decide to use Facebook to look for jobs:

• Registration is free so you can go in and have a look around without giving much away about yourself at the start

• Once you have decided you want to be part of Facebook, then complete your profile but be careful and don't post anything that you don't want a prospective employer to read.

• Don't post compromising photos and ask your friends not to post their photos of you the 'worse for wear' at their birthday party

• Check your privacy settings and select what is right for you. But remember if you want potential employers to find you, then they won't be able to if you make your account 'Friends only'.

• Only post content relevant to your job search or your career

• Recruitment companies use Facebook to check out potential candidates so keep this in mind!

• If you're going for a high-powered job, you can expect the company to check out everything you have put on social media sites, so make sure what you put on Facebook is consistent with what you have on your LinkedIn profile and what you say about yourself on Twitter.

TOP TIP

Just be sensible and careful with how much information you reveal on Facebook, more so than with Twitter or LinkedIn.

7 Simple Steps to 100 Facebook Group Invites in Less Than 3 Minutes

If you aren't already aware, having your own Facebook Business Group is a simple and powerful tool for building credibility and presence on the worlds largest social media website. Facebook isn't just for kids anymore!

I make all of my group invites on Friday every week. This keeps things streamlined and it gives me an opportunity to add lots of new friends during the week and do all of my group invites in one sitting.

Well, this morning I decided to set my stopwatch and see just how long it would take to send out my invites.

I sent over 100 invites in 2 minutes 57 seconds and decided to share EXACTLY what I do so that you can do the same.

So here it is:

First, there are 3 simple steps to have in place so that you can "rinse and repeat" the 7 steps.

3 simple steps to set up quick group invites. Do these 3 steps so that you can invite 100's of people to join your Facebook Group without having to spend more than a few minutes a week.

1. Write script for invites in a text file.

Here is a sample:

I'd love for you to come join my Charge What You Deserve Group. This is a fun, dynamic and effective group addressing all things "Fee-Setting." I hope you will join along in the excitement.

Cheers and Success Tom

2. Save the text file on your desktop or a folder that you will have easy access to.

I have one folder for ALL text files on my desktop. The one with my script is simply named "Facebook Group Invites."

3. Add new friends to a "Friend List" with a weekly date range to keep track of when they were added.

Example: "Jan 4-10"

When you add or accept friends, click the "Add to a friend list" drop down and select the list.

Now let's get to the good stuff; the invites...

100 Group Invites in less than 3 minutes:

1. Go to your desktop and open the folder with your "Group Invite" script.

2. Right click and "Copy" script.

3. Open your Facebook Group page

4. Select "Invite People to Join" from the menu on the right under your photo.

5. Scroll all the way down and select people to join from your "Add to a Friend List." Their names will be queued and ready to go when you are done. Invite up to 100 people.

6. Right click and paste your message in the "Personal Message" box under the names to be invited.

7. Click "Send Invitations"

Viola

Facebook will only allow 100 invitations at one time, but you can repeat steps 5-7 immediately as often as necessary. No worries about spam since you're inviting people to join a group.

If you repeat this every week you will have a huge list of targeted prospects and business partners who look to you as an expert in your market before you know it.

7 Things to Consider When Creating a Facebook Fan Page

A mammoth hidden reserve of advertising resources on Facebook lays undiscovered by network marketers. They are called Facebook Fan pages. Right now the marketers in the know are taking full advantage of these fan pages and growing their business.

What is a fan page? It is a page that interested people can view that has information about you, your product or your opportunity. If they like it and see value in it, they can become a fan of yours.
