Navigating Around the Wall on Facebook
Facebook is one of the most popular social networking sites today if not the single most popular one. There are lots of great features that you can use on the website and the Wall is one of the most important aspects of Facebook. Here is a look at how to navigate around the Wall on Facebook to make it a more satisfying experience.
The Facebook Wall is one of the most important parts of the website and is the place where people interact most with each other. You can, and should, control who can see your wall and who can access the information you put on your profile. You can restrict the people that can see your wall or view the information on your profile. There are many setting that allow you to do this in the privacy controls of Facebook. Most people recommend that you only allow your friends to see you and your information on Facebook. There are legitimate security concerns about the information you can put on the site and you should be careful with what you put online even for your friends to view. You can control what you do on your profile and your wall, but aren't able to control what other people do.
Writing on the Facebook Wall is the main way that people communicate on Facebook and you can post messages to your wall and that of those you are friends with. You can also often post messages on the wall of pages you are a fan of to communicate other messages. You can put all kinds of different content on your wall such as common posts, quotes, pictures, videos and application content. All this can be done quite easily and controlled from your main Facebook page. Another way to communicate with people is through a more direct way than just a status update is called Wall to Wall. This type of communication on Facebook is less direct than a direct message and can be viewed by other people as well but only by those who are normally able to view the walls of both people participating in the Wall to Wall conversation.
You have many options of how you can view content on the Facebook Wall. The one that Facebook currently defaults to is called the News Feed. This shows what your friends on Facebook are doing in real time and is in chronological order. You also have the option of viewing the Wall by the most recent posts and comments. This is sorted by when the post was most recently active and not necessarily when the original post was made. One the left side of the page you can view things like your messages, events, photos and list of friends. These different options allow you to access other features of Facebook and are convenient to find on the Wall. The main bar at the top of the Wall asks you what is on your mind and this is where you are going to make any and all updates to your wall. You can put links in here for other people to view and can also post images and videos through this part of the page.
The best way to learn how the Facebook Wall page works is by just exploring it and seeing what things do. If you are still uncomfortable with what is on the page, then you can ask for help from a friend or family member who can show you the ropes about the Wall on Facebook. Take your time in learning and try to understand everything that is available to you on the Facebook Wall and you will enjoy yourself much more on Facebook.

Does Facebook Addiction Really Exist?
Ask this question a number of Facebook users and most of them will agree that something like this does exist. However, most people that admit that an addiction can exist will play it down. Facebook addiction is nothing serious they will argue. After all, how can something that so many people engage in possibly be harmful or negative?
However, I am here to tell you that not only does "Facebook addiction" really exist, but also that it can be a serious problem having a negative impact on your life. In fact, this phenomenon is becoming so common that American psychologists have now come up with a descriptive term called "Facebook Addiction Disorder" or short FAD.
The sheer unlimited growth of the world's biggest social network recently has brought so many people to the site, that most of us feel that we have to join the site and stay there in order to be up-to-date on what is going on in our friendship circle or otherwise we will miss out on critical information. A kind of peer pressure has taken over that anyone who wants to be "in" has to join the site. And then of course, check there as often as possible to stay ahead with the news.
Our research and work has shown that Facebook addiction can be a serious mental problem that impacts the person affected by it in many negative ways. The most common effects are a big loss in productivity, the inability to concentrate and superficiality of friendships as well as isolation in extreme cases because of the ongoing preference of "online friendship" versus real life friendships.
It is not uncommon for Facebook addicts to log on to the site the first thing in the morning as well as update their personal status or check the site more than 5-6 times a day. Some of our readers have reported spending about 4-5 hours a day on the site. With such statistics it is no longer necessary to discuss the question if such an addiction really exists.
The question rather becomes on how to help such users to deal with their addiction, what can be done to reduce the time they spend there and if it wasn't actually best to quit the site entirely. Not only has the world seen the rise of a new potential online addiction termed "Facebook Addiction Disorder", but we will also have to deal with a rising number of affected people in the future as the scope of the world's biggest social network is only going to increase.
Awareness of such a disorder is the first step we need to bring into our society. More public discussion about the downsides of Facebook (and similar online networks) can only be beneficial to the ones currently being hooked on the network. But the best news is that since there was a life before Facebook, there also is a way to quit the addiction.
Chrisi Brand is the author of the book "How To Quit Facebook - And Do More Meaningful Things Instead". After suffering from a strong Facebook addiction himself for more than 5 months, a lot of trial and error he finally found a way that any person can quit Facebook within a number of days - without going back. You can learn more about this method here: http://www.howtoquitfacebooknow.com.

How You'll Know Your Facebook Has Been Hacked
You can imagine my surprise when I tried to access my Facebook account two days ago and was prompted with a screen saying that my account had been locked out because there had been too many unauthorized attempts to access my account. My Facebook account had been hacked. What can you do when faced with this same tragedy? Luckily, Facebook has several security measures in place to help you restore your account and get back to sending messages to your friends again in no time.
All is not lost if you log-in to your account and get the same screen I got. I was more worried about other accounts I have that use the same user name and same password. The first screen basically states that Facebook needs to verify that you are the correct user for the account. So you have to click a button to proceed to the next screen. The next screen you will see will show you the internet address and the location of where someone was trying to access your account. In my case, I was shown a little pin on a Google map in Auckland, New Zealand. Facebook asked if this would have been me trying to log-in to my account from this location. Well, since I have never been to New Zealand it could not possibly have been me. So, I clicked the button that said something along the lines of this is not me.
Next, I was given the option of how I would like to identify myself as the proper owner of the account. I could either select an option of sending a confirmation e-mail to the e-mail account on file and then return to enter the activation code, or identify a series of pictures of my friends. The first option was pretty much never even an option. If my account had been hacked, how could I know if the person had already reset the e-mail account and the activation code would go to the knuckle head in New Zealand? I chose to try option two and identify pictures of my friends. It should be noted that you will be shown your friends pictures from their accounts and not pictures of them in your account. If you don't think that you can recognize your friends from a photo line up then you need to select the first option of the activation code.
I was led through a series of nine different friends and I was able to identify all of them. Facebook granted me access to my account and I was immediately prompted to change my password. After changing my password, I was given instructions by Facebook to change the password on any other accounts that I may have that use the same username and password. That was the whole process. So be careful and I would suggest changing your password once a month to be safe.

Facebook Can Help You Get Coaching Clients
Facebook is a popular social media site that has many functions and tools within the site. It will take you a while to find your way around this platform so take some time to explore Facebook.
It is important that you pay attention to what you put in your profile. People will go to your profile to find out who you are, what you do, who you help and what you have to offer them so be sure to include that information, a website URL, and a call to action. Do not give too much personal information in your profile.
Facebook
Facebook is a social media site that has many features so we will only cover the ones that aid in business. When you join Facebook you will become friends with people and you will invite them to be friends with you. I suggest that when you ask someone to be your friend that you include a message that tells them who you are and why you would like to be there friend.
Groups
Facebook has many opportunities to join groups that relate to your target coaching niche. There are tons of different groups on Facebook and you can find a group that has almost anything you can think of for a group theme. Join groups that have a purpose that relates to your target coaching niche and invite the group members to become your friend. Don't forget to include a message that lets them know you are in a group together and that is why you want to be their friend.
Once you are a member of the group be sure to contribute to the group by adding comments to discussions and starting discussions. You are there to help others by sharing your knowledge and offering information not just to sell. Be sure to be a resource to others in the group by helping them with issues they talk about in the group. Do not actively sell people on your products. When you are helpful and provide good information people will check you and your site out.
There will be many requests for you to join different groups so be sure to only join groups that are closely related to your target coaching niche and groups that will be filled with potential coaching clients.
Events
Facebook has an events feature that allows you to create an event and invite friends to the event. You will start getting event invitations as soon as you start collecting friends on Facebook. You may want to attend some of the events because you can attend some great teleclasses for free and learn through Facebook events.
You can also create your own events on Facebook and that is where your Facebook friends pay off. You can create an event like a teleseminar to kick off a new product and invite all of your Facebook friends to attend. If your event pertains to a subject matter that your friends are interested in then they will accept your invitation.
I create an event for every product launch and teleseminar or telecours that I have. You can invite your friends to attend a "preview" call for a product launch, a teleclass, or a telecourse. Create an opt-in page and ask the guests to register for the event so that you can send them a replay of the event after it is over.
Your event should offer valuable information that your target coaching niche is interested in. You should have information that they can act on immediately and it is the perfect time to introduce and entice them to take advantage of the product or service you are offering. Essentially they have opted in to your list because they were interested in the subject you are talking about and that means that they will logically have an interest in your products and services.
Facebook is a social media platform so be sure not to abuse it with too much promotion. Be a giver and share your coaching knowledge with your Facebook friends.

Facebook For Business - A Few Benefits
Facebook for business, essentially a social media network. Facebook offers businesses many benefits. In this article we'll explore some of these benefits.
Before we do, let us look at a few vital issues when using Facebook for business. Pages and Profiles are needed, pages are used primarily by organizations and public figures. While profiles are for individuals, but,the administrator of the Pages must have a Profile (a personal account). The administrator(s) of the Pages should have an in-depth understanding of the rules relating to setting up business accounts, so that the business would adhere to them.
And now a succinct look at the benefits. They include:
A large base of users
The first, is the fact that the network has a large number of users-500 million, to be exact. Using Facebook for business provides an opportunity for businesses to generate and convert leads, and interact with clients and prospects in a cost-effective and interesting manner.
Availability of a wealth of demographic and psycho-graphic data
Most users on the network fill in their personal data, and this can be leveraged to ensure that advertising and related campaigns are targeted at the specific groups required.
Applications that enhance the depth of the engagement
There are applications that makes the sharing of content a breeze, for example, with a mouse-click, all those connected to a particular profile or page can be up-dated once new content is added, and their own additions also has the same effect.
The page's administrator can add or post a variety of content, like audio, video and photos. The company's blog can also be registered on the network, so that it can be easily accessed.
Easy integration of feeds from other web properties
Using Facebook for business to help facilitate and deepen the interactions with businesses, feeds and links, to other properties like blogs, forums, twitter...can be easily added.
Potential for viral marketing
The users on the network can easily share content about a brand that they find alluring. Thus, the power of word of mouth marketing takes place in a very powerful manner, making the use of Facebook for business a must. It is easy to share all types of content. Leads, prospects and clients whose expectations are being met, can easily be converted to raving fans, where a brand is perceived as first-rate.
Feedback Data
Using Facebook for business also offers analytics information that will help a business in gauging the value of its engagement with its market. The feedback provided can then be leveraged to improve its interactions with its community.
What has been explored is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to using Facebook for business.

The Right Way to Interact With Facebook Friends and Fans
Although people are more or less aware of what proper Netiquette is, the creation and development of Facebook has taken web interaction to a whole new level. With Facebook, new rules have to be set up. Each application should be carefully studied. Whether you use your Facebook account for personal or professional reasons, one should always remember that the internet shapes society. To some, Facebook and other social networks is even the basis of making or breaking relationships- from employees ranting about their bosses online to wives finding out about her husband's affair. Here are a few things to remember when dealing with people online through Facebook, more so if you're using it professionally.
Keep what needs to be Private Private
Redundant as it may sound, this is the primary rule people forget. The interaction and sense of voyeurism Facebook gives is a tempting entity but you should remember these things have a tendency to backfire. Do you really want your clients see you puking on your Friday night gimmicks? Or is that catty comment that was supposed to be an inside joke between friends worth the misinterpretation by others? Remember, the Internet is forever. Personal or professional contacts may stumble on these in the future. If your life is like an open book, imagine the complication of you having to explain to them each and every action you made in the past.
Stop Publishing those Game Updates, Pronto
Unless you're in middle school, getting those cluttered game updates will tend to annoy prospective customers. Remember that you do have the option not to post these updates. To you, it may seem like guilty pleasure. But to others, posting game updates will give you the reputation of being a bit too juvenile. That's a big no-no when you're trying to build up solid credibility online.
Stop Text Posting or Posting when it's not Necessary
'Hd a frikng gud tym at d prty lst nyt' just doesn't sound well online. Some people may forget that all the characters are at your disposal and you have a relatively longer character limit, so make use of them properly. Text posting is a bit too casual for any person's taste. The same goes for drunk posting, posting gibberish or something too vague. In fact, stop posting just for the sake of posting. Although everyone is entitled to their own bit of cyberspace, these things have a tendency to get one other people's nerves in the long run. Annoyance is not the sentiment you want to conjure up in people.
Choose your Contacts Well
You should remember that all news and information posted will appear on their wall. Even their contacts will have the chance to see it. So stop being trigger happy and reserve your friend requests to those who you think are really deserving of it. Direct contacts are ideal. You only have a 5,000 limit for contacts after all. If you're keeping a Facebook page for professional reasons, then do not accept friend requests right away. It would do you good to do a bit of research about the contact. It is unethical to befriend everyone and then de-friend them later on.

Developing Facebook Applications
I've worked on several Facebook Applications since the beginning of the year and although none of them have been massively successful hits, I've learned a couple of things about developing Facebook Applications. Hopefully, I can share some of what I've learned and experienced. I'm not going to talk much about the technical development process but instead, more of the marketing and business aspects. I'm also going to try to not make broad assumptive conclusions based on my experiences but instead, share my experiences and give conclusions that I'm pretty confident in. Some of us are making applications because we want to share our great ideas with the world but, all of us would like to monetize our ideas--don't lie, you know you do. :)
Facebook launched their application platform in the middle of 2007 and it has done very well since. Thousands of people have made applications for it and some businesses have sprouted from it. I was generally cautious of the Facebook Platform and did not look into it until mid-January of 2008. As of today, I have four active Facebook Applications that were developed solely by me and one other that I worked on. My applications aren't drawing any significant number of daily active users--I don't even have an application that has 1000 installs yet. The total combined user base of all my applications probably falls in around 1500 - 2000 installs. It isn't impressive but, keep reading.
I haven't put much polish in my applications simply due to the fact that I don't know what the return on these applications are. My first app is just a Flash remake of Pong: Old School Tennis. There is no social or viral features to that application, I was just dipping my toes in the water. That application has around 200 installs which surprises me every day due to its utter lack of features but, I guess Pong is just a fun distraction. My second go at the platform delivered me my, arguably, most successful application so far: My Bookshelf. My Bookshelf still needs a lot of polish and feature additions. My vision for it was a lot more grand than what it currently is. The biggest difference between other applications like it is the shelf display that was done in Flash so it has a nice scrolling view. I've spent the most time developing My Bookshelf and it produces the most money in advertising revenue--it accounts for about 80% - 90% of my daily Facebook revenue through Social Media.
My fastest growing and most complete Facebook Application is FlipCup Challenge based on the drinking game of the same name--minus "Challenge". It has the social features that should be expected in a Facebook game like high scores amongst your friends, global high scores, challenges--hence the name--and the ability to invite your friends. FlipCup Challenge is growing at a faster rate than My Bookshelf but has not produced nearly as much revenue. While My Bookshelf suffers from a very poor retention rate--I believe due to its lack of polish--FlipCup does a very good job keeping users who have installed it. This leads me to believe that a certain level of polish is indeed necessary even though games like Zombies were pretty rudimentry and managed to attract millions of installs. The landscape for Facebook Applications is changing and developers are going to have to make more sophisticated applications in order to compete as the platform grows and matures.
The last of my personal applications is Sam's Solitaire. It is a simple solitaire game based solely on Windows's version of solitaire that everyone who runs Windows will have. It took me about a week to make it, working just a couple hours a day--I happen to have a full-time job as well. This application is quite generic except for the fact that I made it for a girl who plays quite a bit of solitaire on her phone--that must be a first, Facebook Application as a gift. So this application has a differentiating personality and a basic social feature that tells you how fast your friends have finished a game of Sam's Solitaire. None of my applications have been active for more than 6 months with Sam's Solitaire being active for less than two weeks.
The last application that I will talk about is Sheep Tycoon. It has the production polish because we developed it as professionals at Tiny Mantis Entertainment--an independent game company. This Facebook edition of Sheep Tycoon is a simplified version of a bigger game that we have been trying to find the funds to produce. The game on Facebook is relatively simple. The goal is to get the highest score possible by milking sheep and then turning the milk into butter, cheese, or leave it as is and bring it to one of the two waiting donkey's to be delivered to town--I happen to hold the second highest score as of this writing. Although Sheep Tycoon is a very pretty game, it doesn't have the same polish in social features. It is also a lot more original than any of the applications that I have made so it is difficult to gauge if such a game would appeal to the Facebook audience.
I've searched the web for Facebook marketing techniques and I have not found any definitive information. It appears to me that everyone is still trying to figure out how to tap the potential of the Facebook Platform. One technique that I've written about, viral loops, is something that I believe can be applied to Facebook. Some apps already have used this technique without even knowing it and some appear to be deliberately doing it but in uncreative and possibly annoying ways.
The main point that I've come away with in the last six months working with the Facebook Platform to develop viable business models is that an application's ability to generate revenue has more to do with how long a user stays in your application than it does with how many total installs or daily active users you have. Obviously, if there are a lot of installs and a lot of daily active users, there will be a certain amount of revenue that can be garnered from it but, that is just a law of numbers. To maximize the revenue potential of each user is to keep them in the application. Applications also need to have a certain level of polish to them or it will just be lost in the mix. The amount of applications on Facebook is growing everyday so having a unique selling point will eventually become crucial.
I have application ideas sitting in my Developer application--some of which are half finished apps. Some of them will probably never see the light of day either due to its complexity--my procrastination--or just better ideas skipping in line. We have a big application designed for Facebook at Tiny Mantis that we are trying to get funding for. We believe that this application will expand the definition of "social games"--which is a hot sector in the application market. I'm sure I am a little biased--I had a hand in its inception--but, if you are looking to fund social games, let us know.
Revenue being generated from advertising is probably not the best route for a truly sustainable or highly profitable model. I believe micro-transactions is way to go and Facebook is supposed to be working on a system for that. There is a great deal of potential in the Facebook Platform and I will continue to find ways to unlock it--along with the thousands of other developers, venture capitalists, and business people. Hopefully, I've provided some insights through my experiences. Maybe I'll have some more in the next six months. Until then, see you on Facebook.

How to Embed Videos on Your Facebook Wall
As a web developer who works with a lot of video content online, I'm often asked the question "how do I embed videos on my Facebook wall?", to which I answer "Facebook doesn't allow video embedding in profiles but I'll show you the next best thing."
The reality of it is, Facebook has become far more popular than MySpace now and at it's peak, the majority of MySpace users had at least one video embedded on their profile, whether it was a MySpace video or a YouTube video. Now that these MySpace users have jumped ship to the other social networking site with the little blue icon, they'd like to have the same privilege of embedding video on their Facebook profile page.
So how do you do it?
OPTION 1 - posting the latest music videos on your Facebook wall and in your friends' news feeds
- find a website that supplies free viewing of the latest, most popular music videos by doing a search engine search of the following terms:
- "urban videos"
- "free music videos toolbar"
- "grime music videos" - find the video of your choice on that website and make sure the video has a "share on Facebook" button. If not, then go back to the previous stage until you find a website that enables Facebook video sharing
- click the "share on Facebook" button and it will open up a Facebook window asking you to log in
- enter your login details and click the "post to profile" tab... Feel free to enter comments that will appear alongside the video on your profile
- click "post" and that's it, the video is on your profile! It'll also show up in all of your friends' news feeds
OPTION 2 - posting any YouTube video on yours or a friend's Facebook wall using the "share a link" method
- browse youtube.com for a video of your choice
- go to your browser address bar, select the entire website address (URL) for theYoutube video page and right-click/apple-click and select "copy"
- now log into Facebook and go to yours or a friend's profile
- click the "share link" tab near the top of the page, then right-click/apple-click and paste into the text box displayed
- click "preview" then "post" and VOILA... the video is now embedded on yours or your friend's Facebook wall
These steps in option 2 can be repeated using various free video websites other than YouTube, as long as that website is an official Facebook share partner.
As an official Facebook share partner, Urban Videos contains hundreds of the latest free music videos for you to embed on yours or a friend's Facebook wall. Click Here to visit Urban Videos, find the video of your choice and simply click the "share on Facebook" button listed with the video to embed it on your Facebook wall. The video will also be playable within your friends' news feeds.
Have Fun!

What Are the Benefits of Facebook Pages Over Facebook Groups?
Facebook groups surely have some functions; however, the popularity of Facebook has reduced the importance of Facebook groups. Let us find out the reason behind this.
A Facebook page can lead to internal promotion at Facebook.com. The updates on the page are shown on the fan page feed, whereas the updates of the groups can never be seen on fan pages. If your friends join the pages, the page will be included in the suggestion column. The groups are not treated in this manner.
The pages score over the groups when it comes to customization properties. The groups cannot be customized. They can be handled only like message boards, where one can post messages. Every group has an area for posting messages. On the contrary, you can customize the Facebook pages in different ways. You can hide or show any content of the pages according your requirements. You can also add new modules and applications to these pages. The pages acts like mini websites.
You Facebook page can be viewed by any one; he or she will not need to be a Facebook user or account holder to go through Facebook. These pages can easily be explored on all major search engines. You cannot check out any Facebook group without signing into an account. The pages can be identified with vanity URLs, for example: Facebook.com/MyPage. This facility cannot be enjoyed by the groups.
There's no option of going anonymous with your groups. Once you create your group you will immortalize yourself as its admin. You cannot hide your identity while operating on the group. One the other hand, if it's a Facebook fan page, it will allow you to stay completely anonymous. You can publish your name only if you want.

Facebook Tips For Married Couples
Why are Facebook tips for married couples necessary? Because believe it or not, more and more couples are separating and divorcing because of inappropriate relationships that began on Facebook.
You see, Facebook opens up a portal into the world in a way we've not experienced before. If you're searching for a long lost relative or your high school sweetheart, it's likely you'll find them on Facebook. If you're not searching for anyone on Facebook, don't worry, they'll find you. This can be problematic.
Mainly problematic for married couples if not handled properly.
Here are a few tips to help the two of you enjoy the benefits of Facebook without falling prey to the dangers.
1. Your spouse should be given the password and user name for your Facebook account. If this information is too confidential to share with your spouse, then frankly there's something wrong with that picture.
2. Your Facebook profile photo should be a picture of both you and your spouse.
3. Don't accept friend request from people of the opposite sex if you do not know them.
4. Don't accept friend request from ex-boyfriends, or ex-girlfriends.
5. Don't share information with others on Facebook that you would not also share with your spouse.
Taking daily steps to ensure that your relationship is happy and healthy is one of the biggest things you can do to reduce the chances of inappropriate behavior while social networking. Marriages where neither spouses' needs are being met are more susceptible to these risks.
In conclusion, Facebook is a wonderful socializing tool when used with care. Practicing these tips can help you and your spouse avoid the heartache and destruction that follows internet infidelity. So, what are your thoughts about Facebook and married couples? Join our discussion in the Christian Wives Internet Cafe'.

Facebook Is the New Marketplace
Facebook and other Social Media offer Marketing Opportunity
In order to be a successful marketer, you need to get the right products to the right people. When you are able to do this, you will get delightful customers who will be willing to boost your sales. It has been a trend that marketers follow their customers and try to get the message about their products across.
Convention Mass Communication Means
Conventionally, marketing communication is made possible by print, broadcast and other traditional means of mass communication. Traditional media is able to reach a wider audience. However, ineffectiveness is also a concern since some of the audience reach by consumers belong to the other segment or group that the marketer is not advertising for.
The Advent of Internet and Social Media
The internet made such a fuss when the people discover that the medium is highly personalized and provides more content on demand than any other available medium. Some social sites are popular and widely used because of some reasons:
- Every user, whether a customer or a marketer, can create and distribute content. In conventional media, the control is on the advertiser and the media owner but the customers cannot proliferate their message.
- Social sites are personalized and a user can join groups he or she chose.
- The social media creates buying decisions without the much influence of various advertisements. The whole community of social media is a revolutionized word-of-mouth.
Facebook: No.1 Social Media
Facebook already has 500 million users and is continuously growing. It is currently the number one social networking site in terms of subscription and activity. Mark Zuckerberg started the site in his dorm and is now a global phenomenon.
Facebook is an interface that is currently used for easy and fast communication. You can create fan pages and groups with a simple click of a mouse. This what makes Facebook extremely popular to many people. Moreover, a wide array of social applications was developed by the site. These applications allow users to do a number of things in their sites such as to share photos, videos as well as to play flash games and to create a blog.
Why is Facebook Important to Marketers?
The conventional forms of mass media that include television and print ads can easily reach out for the wider audience. However, in social media, the target audience is more specific, which can be beneficial to marketers. Moreover, Facebook has a lot of communication tools that allow marketers to communicate with their audience and open various possibilities in a fruitful exchange with potential clients and customers. Here are some of the useful methods that marketers can use in Facebook:
- Ads - In Facebook, you can create your own ads that will fit your taste. Also, you can customize and specify the details of your target group and the types of discussions where you want the ads to appear.
- Fan Pages - Facebook allows everyone to make their own fan pages either for personal or business purposes. Large names in the business industry create their own fan pages and have immediate fans across the globe following them around. The fan page allows you to send first hand information about the company or the products as well as a feedback mechanism that allows you to solicit honest feedback from customers.
- Branded Applications - Engage people in knowing your business and products through an application, which can be a game or a contest.
Facebook is a great avenue for marketers in targeting their specific audience. It also gives you the analytics and page insights that give good feedback and measurement on the activity done. The different options provided by Facebook can be explored and used for the advantage of marketers in boosting their popularity and sales. However, you must consider the ability of the users to create an immediate and equal action or feedback to you. You may also chose to get the service of a social media consultant to create effective social media strategies and to assure that all your efforts will not go to waste.

MySpace and Facebook - Compare the Updates
To compare and contrast the two largest social networks, all the while keeping up to date with the newest updates and features is an exciting roller coaster of events. While MySpace and Facebook are not the only two social networking sites on the block, they hold the top spots in this category.
In the personal interface area at MySpace, not the profile layout for your visitors to view, but the "for your eyes only" section, you can now customize the layout or background to a healthy selection of colors and styles. The individual modules can also be relocated and moved around to suit your ease of viewing them any way you would like or just close the ones you do not need altogether.
MySpace has a good selection of the new CSS 2.0 layouts as well for your visitors eyes on your profile page. The staggering amount of CSS 2.0 layout choices at the numerous layout sites will certainly allow the flare and personality of individuals everywhere to express their profile page and astound their guests. The new CSS 2.0 change is extremely easy to learn, so the switch over will be no problem. The tutorials furnished will assist with any troubles you may encounter.
Facebook has some updates as well in their personal interface area. It has a cleaner feel and it is easier to see your friends news feeds, status updates, photos, and posted items all designed and navigated by the new tab system. Facebook has a shout out "Twitter Style" capability that MySpace does not yet have as you are able to comment on your friends shout outs as they make them. A shout out is just a little blurb of how you feel or what your are doing at that given time or moment, like "Going to the Store", "BBL" (be back later), "Major Headache", or "At Work, Saying Hi". While MySpace has a mini shout out with no comment feature, they do have an emoticon "Mood" feature that is not incorporated into the Facebook shout out. Their emoticon "Mood" feature is offered as an application widget through the "Top Friends" application and others.
Facebook has prided itself on it's privacy features since it's inception and it actually "feels" more private when you are venturing around the profiles, groups, and featured pages. There has been much media on the virus filled applications in the mid part of 2008, but with the onset of 2009, people are still flocking in droves over to this blog social network.
MySpace is geared towards senses stimulation with its color oriented layouts, music with its many band sites, and video broadcasts. You "hear" MySpace and "read" Facebook it seems. I believe that each is a big draw to both sites. The "fluff" at MySpace being the deco, diapason, dress, and design and at Facebook, the big calling is association, art, academia, and applications.
The chat features at each social network are quite different. MySpace has their IM extraordinaire but the Facebook chat is a great deal less appealing because first you need to be on and logged into the social network in order to actually use their chat feature. Whereas the MySpace IM (instant messenger) is a separate system. There is no need to be logged into the social network at all to chat and the mobile IM is quite handy.
The customization of interface levels makes Facebook seem more private, but both social networks have a great deal of privacy or not very much at all depending on your personal settings. Individual privacy settings for personal information and for each application you choose to allow at each social network. While Facebook was the first to have outside applications available on their profile areas, MySpace has stepped up to bat on the application game and introduced a huge selection.
The thought of "Poking" your friends seems so '06 anymore compared to the Pirates, GreenSpot, MyFarm, or SuperPoke applications users are crowding to add to their own profile pages today.
For MySpace users who have switched over to the new CSS 2.0 layouts, to add your applications to your profile area and show them off on your visitors page just click the "Profile" drop down to the "Customize Profile" link, then click the "Applications" button on the left, and highlight to add which applications you would like to show for your viewers.
While both blog social networks, and I call them blog networks because each has a prominent blogging community, have pronounced and visual updates, the attractions to both social networks are numerous and wide spread. Whether you choose to become a MySpacer, Facebooker, or both is ultimately your decision. Enjoy the ride.

Facebook Freezes - Why Does Facebook Freeze? And How to Fix It
Facebook is a wonderful website that let us stay connected with our friends. A great majority of us can not live with out it. It becomes a serious concern when Facebook freezes. We can not use it properly and feel frustrated. What are the reasons for Facebook freezes and how to fix it?
There are two reasons that account for these kind of freezes. I have mentioned the reasons of Facebook freeze along with the possible solutions. The suggested solutions are easy to act upon. An average computer user can take these steps and avoid Facebook freeze in future.
First, small size of RAM makes computer slow. When we use many programs at one time, computer tends to bogged down. Since, uploading/viewing pictures or watching videos on Facebook use many resources, it can result in freeze. This problem can be cured by increasing the size of RAM. An increased RAM size will make sure that enough space is available to run many programs at the same time.
Secondly, corrupt windows registry cause freezes in computer. With passage of time, registry becomes congested and corrupt. Registry is most vital part of the computer system that stores and use vital information.A neat and clean registry ensures smooth and fast computing. Clean registry means no Facebook kind of freezes. For this, you need to use the best registry cleaner. It will solve the problem of such freezes. Registry cleaner should be used regularly. Additionally, it will speed up computer for all other programs.
The above guidelines allow you to Avoid Facebook Freezes and keep your Windows properly maintained. Prevention is better than cure.
You can have a complete registry cleaning solution, you can try this globally recognized software utility available at Intel Directory.

Facebook and How to Create a Business Page Which Will Bring More Custom by Building Membership
Facebook has become a worldwide phenomena, with people all over the world using it to keep in touch. Technically it is a superb testament to web engineering. It can also take over your life if you're not careful. But Facebook can also be used as a very good marketing tool if approached the right way. If you haven't been on it yet, it could be quite daunting, however, if your having problems, ask any 12 year old for help and you'll be up and running in no time.
It's true, Facebook is used by kids. It's also true that a lot of businesses use it too. The reason why is very simple, it's where their customers are.....
If you don't like Facebook, get over it. It is simply where you will find the groups and associations you are looking to market to. Online, all the time. So let's look at Facebook a little closer. If you don't have an account (profile) and you want to take advantage of this tool then get online and create one. It's quite simple (After all, if a 12 year old can do it....) If you have an account already then go to it now....
Tip.. If you are going to use this for business, make sure your personal profile is OK, the last thing you need is clients becoming friends only to find a picture of you mate paul, throwing up outside a nightclub after a particularly good Stag Do.
Creating a Group for your business
1. Go to the home page.
2 On the right hand side of the page you will see Grey panel called Applications.
3. Click on the Groups tag.
4. This will take you to the Groups page. Near the top there is a grey button which says. + Create a New Group.
5. This will bring up a form which you need to fill in.
> The first line is Group name - Put in you company name.
> Next, is a pull down menu titled "Network". During your set up you may have joined many networks or none, leave this to say Global (Available to all of Facebook)
> Description is next. This is where you a full description of the company, but be aware that when a bit more savvy with the Facebook platform you will also be able to use this for marketing calls to action. But for now just put some really good copy on the company in here. This field is one of the many which is fully editable, so if you just want to put a very short description in for speed then it's OK you can always change it later.
> The next section is where you set up your Group Type. Hit the pull down menu and select which category most suits your company. This would probably be Business. At this point the pull down menu next to it will highlight. This is where you select the Type of business you are.
> The next box is Recent News, you can skip this for now, we'll come back to that when we have finished setting up the Group.
> Fill in the rest of the contact details.
6. Hit the blue Create Group button at the Bottom Customise Now we come to the next form.. This is where you can upload a photo, or what might be more appropriate, a Graphic or Company Logo. Use a logo which is not a massive file.
> Click on Choose File, and find the logo or picture you want to use. hit the check box that you certify that you have the rights to the picture and hit the blue upload picture button..... wait for it to upload. It will show up in the frame on the left hand side of the page once it has completed the uploading process.
> Now type your web address in the window provided. Below that there are check boxes where you can decide how you want to run your Group Page. Again you can change these settings to have more control on whether only you can upload photo's to the site or will you allow members to upload as well. This is a choice which has pro's and con's - you decide which way you want to go, I personally would only allow me as an administrator or creator of the group to decide what I want on my page. But that's just me (Control Freak).
7. Once you have done that, hit the blue button at the bottom to save the page. This will automatically take you to a page to invite your friends. You can do this at a later stage, once you have your page the way you want it. So, now we'll look at out page. At the top of the screen you will see. Back to and then your company name. Click on this and you will see you page for the first time.
CONGRATULATIONS! You have a business Page on Facebook!
At the moment it all looks a bit sparce, especially if you have not done a lot of text, but this will change and we put more stuff into it. I walked through these steps with you as I was putting together a group for us at Business For Life. I have done a group to highlight our Internet Marketing Consultancy and to discuss and share with my clients issues around Internet Marketing. You can go to the group yourself now and become a member.

Facebook Cheats - For Your Partner to Flirt Behind Your Back!
While doing some research on cheats available for the Facebook games apps, I was quite astonished to see the new levels that cheating has gone to. It seems the addictiveness and competitiveness of Facebook games is bringing out a whole new sphere of dishonesty that simply wasn't here a few years ago.
While I don't have a problem with Facebook cheats in the gaming world I think it's quite disturbing to hear of the number of marriage and relationship break-ups that are attributable it seems to the new social networking era.
Of course jealousy and mistrust, which are which are the foundations of a rocky relationship, have always been around. Sometimes smouldering in the background. Igniting itself occasionally where alcohol is added as catalyst. The stresses of life in itself can wreak havoc on the best of relationships. But now as if working on your relationship wasn't hard enough couples have been forced into a whole new social arena that greatly exacerbates the situation.
Is your partner a Facebook cheat? It must be difficult to avoid such a doubt for many couples. The only sure way would be to have their password you might think, but that wouldn't really solve the problem though would it?
With millions of people now hooked on Facebook games, discovering that the only real way to get ahead is to have lots and lots of friends! The whole system encourages, even forces interaction through messaging and gifting and the likes. It's not uncommon now for people married or single to have hundreds if not thousands of friends, the majority of whom they wont know. They need them to play their game, to level up quickly. But does that put your mind at rest? Of course not.
Your partner is only human, and now it's easier than ever before in human history for them flirt with people they've never met and get away with it. Facebook cheats are everywhere it would appear, and they can easily remain unidentified, indulging in what started out as a harmless game like Mafia wars or whatever! This is can only be evidenced in the record number relationship break-ups today.
The whole thing seems unstoppable. A wife may notice her husband has amassed many friends, male and female. She cant help but notice the girls in particular. Some of them look so pretty, sexy even. So what does she do? She doesn't want to question her husband, but she cant bear it any more, so she adds them to her list of friends! Jealousy and mistrust can only abound.
So what can couples do to with Facebook in their lives? Here are a few tips that might help...
- Whenever you write anything about your partner on Facebook or anywhere only write nice things, only make positive up building comments.
- Make it a new rule or try to agree with each other not to write any personal things.
- Say your uncomfortable with having your profile available to strangers, and agree not accept friends requests from people you both have no idea who they are.
- If someone leaves a flirty comment about your partner - Ignore it, Facebook encourages these comments, they put words in peoples mouths, all they have to do is click. So it's only a silly comment, it's not a problem, but you must ignore it or it will become a problem so just leave it.
- Don't ask for your partners password, give them some trust.
- Don't do anything behind your partners back, like deleting messages etc.
When you do your best to take away any jealousy and mistrust, there can be so much fun to be had from social networking, and in particular with Facebook games. If you want to cheat, get a Facebook games cheat. Don't cheat on each other.
If you think your partner is doing more than flirting behind your back read this article http://hubpages.com/hub/Husband-is-cheating-Need-proof

Facebook Marketing - Why You Should Use Facebook
If you want to market your business or your products and services effectively, internet marketing is the answer. First of all, you don't need to be an internet marketing expert in order to promote your products efficiently over the internet. What you just need is to know where to market it on the internet.
Try to think of a website that generates a lot of traffic and one that divides people according to their interests and hobbies. This way, you will be able to know where you should advertise your products and services and you will also be able to specifically target the people you want to sell your products to.
One website like this is a social networking website. Here, you will see that it will already have the traffic you need and most will contain the tools you need to efficiently advertise your products or services.
One such website is Facebook. Although a lot of people primarily use Facebook to socialize with their friends, you can also use this website as an effective internet marketing tool. It already has the numbers, where it already has more than 62 million active subscribers and is still growing.
When you join Facebook, you will see that you will be given your own profile page. Here, you will be able to tell people about yourself. Now, in order to advertise, try to start adding friends, preferably your own circle of friends or people that you already personally know. Once you build you own network of friends, it is now time for you to extend that network. Try joining groups that share your interest or groups that is interested in what you have to offer.
You can also try personalizing your profile page to make it unique which will attract people to view it. You might also want to post links to your website on your profile page or you can also syndicate your blog pages using RSS. These tools are already provided by Facebook, so you don't really need to know about HTML programming or other complicated internet things.
Another reason why Facebook is a great place to market products and services is that Facebook encourages word of mouth advertising. If someone likes your profile page or the products or services you sold them, they may be able to recommend you to their network of friends and also their groups. This means that the people in Facebook will be the ones that will advertise for you.
These are the things that you need to remember about Facebook and just few of the many reason why you should try marketing your business here.
With Facebook, internet marketing is easier and a lot more fun. Remember these tips and you can be sure that you will be able to effectively market your business website as well as the products and services you are selling far more effectively than other forms of internet marketing.
Facebook has it all. It has traffic and the tools. All you need to do is use the tools provided in order for the traffic to come to you.

The Most Popular Facebook Emoticons
It's hard to determine which Facebook chat emoticons are the best because everyone has their own opinion. Different people use Facebook chat for different things, so naturally they will not all use the same emoticons. Some might use hearts when talking to their sweethearts while others only use the most basic chat emoticons, the smiley faces.
Others enjoy finding the coolest emoticons to use in their chat sessions. To them, regular smileys are just plain boring. There are plenty of unusual symbols available that can be used on Facebook, so these people have plenty of options. Whatever your chatting style, you are sure to find some smileys or emoticons that you will enjoy using. Here is a list of some of the best Facebook emoticons.
#5: Shark Symbol
The shark symbol is one of the hottest Facebook emoticons right now. It's something that has just recently gained popularity. Much of the style on Facebook reflects back to the 80s, so the shark icon f its right in. After all, the movie Jaws was pretty popular during that time.
#4: Penguin Emoticon
When you think of cute, what can beat a penguin? They are just adorable, which is probably one of the reasons the penguin emoticon has become so popular lately. Penguins are especially popular during the winter, so you can expect to see use of this emoticon rise during that time.
#3: Pacman Symbol
In keeping with the 80s theme on Facebook, let's flash back to a time when Atari was the most popular game system and the game everyone was raving about was Pacman. This adorable yellow dude may not get much play time anymore, but he is back as a nostalgic symbol for those who grew up in the 80s or just loved playing the game. Using the Pacman emoticon in your Facebook chat messages is a great way to bring back old memories.
#2: Heart Symbol
Of course, one of the most popular emoticons on Facebook is the heart. That is because Facebook is often used by people who are romantically involved. Besides sending hearts back and forth to their lovers, many Facebook users send the heart when they are talking about that special someone to other people as well. This makes the heart a very popular Facebook symbol. After all, love makes the world go round.
#1: The Smiley Emoticon
Yes, number one is still and probably always will be the basic smiley. It seems that everyone uses this one. People started inserting smileys into their chat shortly after chat was invented. It is a good way to show your emotions when text can't get the point across by itself. Sometimes it can be unclear from reading a typed message what mood you are trying to express, especially if you are being sarcastic. There are emoticons for every possible emotion, but the most popular is still the basic smiley face.
Smileys and emoticons make for a more satisfying Facebook chat experience. You can start with these top five symbols and emotes if you've never tried them before and add new ones to your repertoire as you see fit. If you have a favorite Facebook emoticon that isn't listed here, please leave a comment and let us know.

Facebook Paid Advertising - All About Keywords That Work for Facebook Ads
The principles of marketing is that you offer your products to those who will most likely buy it in order to save your energy, money, and time. However, you also need to present your product in the most the compelling manner so that people will feel the need for it, making you the expert of solutions to the things they only realized to be necessities after you have informed them of it.
This principle, however, can be very difficult to practice if you do not care to study the demographics and to identify the particular social group that your advertising must be addressed to. Fortunately, in this information age, such requirements can be easily complied with just by using the most favored social networking site in the world, Facebook.
Facebook is a vast source of information on people with different needs and wants, of different age brackets, and of varying tastes and dislikes. You only have to seize the opportunity provided by this social networking site in your attempt to reach out the biggest number of people who will be your most probable customers.
To do this though, you need to be quite knowledgeable in the use of keywords as you try to determine to whom you should address your Facebook paid ads. In this respect, you may be required to do a little research in order to find out what are the appropriate keywords that will help you link up with the people you are targeting for your marketing campaign.
You may have to put yourself on the side of the people whom you wish to reach out, trying to guess what probable words they are going to enter in search engines as they try to look for solutions to their needs. You may also have to learn about the most popular items that they are most likely to search for in the internet so that you can use related terms as your keywords.
Facebook's format, however, allows you to simplify your task in finding the right keywords because it categorizes well the information on its members' profiles. When posting ads in the social networking site, you can get your keywords from the array of interests, favorite movies and TV shows, favorite books, activities, and jobs.
Another method for determining the right keywords is by basing these on the fan and group pages, especially if you believe that your product specifically addresses these cliques. The choosing of keywords related to these groups can make your ads actually reach more people.
Keywords are definitely of strategic value when it comes to online marketing in general and not just for Facebook. However, because of the fact that the social networking site allows you to narrow down to the most probable targets, your keywords become more effective.

The Advantages of Facebook
For those of you who don't already know, Facebook is one of the most popular social networking sites online today. As each day goes by, more and more individuals are setting up a Facebook account in order to socialise with friends and meet or network with other people.
As far as social networking sites go, Facebook has become one of the biggest in the world. Its online community grows each and every day as many more people flock to the world of online social networking. Below you can find some of the advantages of Facebook.
Making Contacts is Easier
Unlike other social networking sites like Linkedin, where you really need to know someone before you contact them, Facebook allows you to send a message with your 'friend request'. This helps to create new contacts and make new friends online without too much trouble.
Easy Interactivity
With Facebook's respectful platform it is possible to become friends with pretty much anyone. Whether it be your colleagues, your superiors, friends of your friends or even just your friends. On top of this, it is possible to use Facebook to just say hello to someone that you haven't seen in a long time or someone you have never met.
Aesthetics
the blue and white theme of Facebook is very nice. It has a very tidy layout that is uncluttered, spacey and easy on the eye. This social networking site tends to have an addictive quality and you want to keep staring at your various pages for hours on end.
Vicarious Pleasure
one of the best parts of Facebook would have to be the newsfeed. This lets you keep tabs on everything that your friends are doing on the site. It is possible to read the messages being sent and view the applications that are being used by your friends. This allows you to keep in touch with what's happening and also makes sure that you are aware of the many applications available on Facebook. If someone uploads new pictures or change something they profile you will know immediately.
If one of your friends right on someone else's wall you'll be able to read the message in your newsfeed. This does not violate privacy as only public messages are available to be viewed by anyone. Private messages remain private.
Other Advantages
Facebook also has many other advantages. These advantages range from it being a great way to kill time, to finding long lost friends wherever they are in the world. Best of all Facebook is free to use for anyone and everyone. This is much better than some other social networking sites that charge a fee.
I would personally recommend setting up a Facebook profile and on top of this the online social networking site is still gaining popularity at a rapid rate, especially with younger people. There are approximately 10,000 new students who join Facebook every day.

Create Your Personalized Facebook News Feed
Have you been having a frustrated relationship with Facebook lately - mostly over their tendency to turn a new application or feature ON for everyone, and then make you spend precious time turning it off, blocking those crazy little applications, or hiding people's updates on your News Feed?
What is the News Feed?
News Feed enables you to know all the events related to a Facebook acquaintance. On your profile page, you will receive a "feed" of the newest events produced by your friends and social groups' interests whenever you log in.
I really wanted to be able to personalize my News Feed, and show only those friends whose feeds I wanted to see when I log into my Facebook account. The only obvious way to accomplish this was to click the 'hide' arrow on the right side of a feed for every Facebook friend whose updates I did NOT want to include.
Very time consuming.
But I discovered there is a fast and easy way to create your own personalized Facebook News Feed, and have it be the default newsfeed in your account.
If you've been frustrated by this as well, we have created a short video on our website showing you exactly how to do this in your Facebook account. You will find the link to access it at the bottom of this article.
Here's a Shortcut to Customize your Facebook NewsFeed!
Another way to make sure you are seeing only the feeds of those whom you want to see is to create a special friends list with only those individuals in it.
Once you have that list, it will appear in the drop down menu on the left side of your page. Simply scroll down to it, grab it with your mouse, and drag it to the top of your left column. That becomes your new NewsFeed.
