Navigating Around the Wall on Facebook

Facebook is one of the most popular social networking sites today if not the single most popular one. There are lots of great features that you can use on the website and the Wall is one of the most important aspects of Facebook. Here is a look at how to navigate around the Wall on Facebook to make it a more satisfying experience.

The Facebook Wall is one of the most important parts of the website and is the place where people interact most with each other. You can, and should, control who can see your wall and who can access the information you put on your profile. You can restrict the people that can see your wall or view the information on your profile. There are many setting that allow you to do this in the privacy controls of Facebook. Most people recommend that you only allow your friends to see you and your information on Facebook. There are legitimate security concerns about the information you can put on the site and you should be careful with what you put online even for your friends to view. You can control what you do on your profile and your wall, but aren't able to control what other people do.

Writing on the Facebook Wall is the main way that people communicate on Facebook and you can post messages to your wall and that of those you are friends with. You can also often post messages on the wall of pages you are a fan of to communicate other messages. You can put all kinds of different content on your wall such as common posts, quotes, pictures, videos and application content. All this can be done quite easily and controlled from your main Facebook page. Another way to communicate with people is through a more direct way than just a status update is called Wall to Wall. This type of communication on Facebook is less direct than a direct message and can be viewed by other people as well but only by those who are normally able to view the walls of both people participating in the Wall to Wall conversation.

You have many options of how you can view content on the Facebook Wall. The one that Facebook currently defaults to is called the News Feed. This shows what your friends on Facebook are doing in real time and is in chronological order. You also have the option of viewing the Wall by the most recent posts and comments. This is sorted by when the post was most recently active and not necessarily when the original post was made. One the left side of the page you can view things like your messages, events, photos and list of friends. These different options allow you to access other features of Facebook and are convenient to find on the Wall. The main bar at the top of the Wall asks you what is on your mind and this is where you are going to make any and all updates to your wall. You can put links in here for other people to view and can also post images and videos through this part of the page.

The best way to learn how the Facebook Wall page works is by just exploring it and seeing what things do. If you are still uncomfortable with what is on the page, then you can ask for help from a friend or family member who can show you the ropes about the Wall on Facebook. Take your time in learning and try to understand everything that is available to you on the Facebook Wall and you will enjoy yourself much more on Facebook.
